Distant Matters of a Duo From Sydney and Berlin

Pinz & Pelz are a cross global duo, having met in Melbourne in 2018, the Sydney / Berlin based producers have been steadily occupying a presence in the international scene.

‘Distant Matter’ is the first track to premiere off their upcoming September 27th release ‘Purer Life’ EP. The release has already been gaining some reputable recognition, with cross genre production, Pinz & Pelz encapsulate both of their styles, interests and experiences into this distinctive project.

This track is a piece reminiscent of early liquid drum and bass productions, yet it seems to stem across more genres than just the foundational rhythm. This independent release dwells through a melodic sphere, one which distances melodies from the hard hitting beat whilst maintaining the cohesiveness of the piece. The melodic journey of this track embarks with a chordal pad and on it's way encounters progressing arpeggiator notes that compliment the overall structure of the piece.

Throughout this journey you will hear rising noises, articulated filter movements, progressing melodies and of course a beautiful saxophone which finds its place in the midst of all the complementary elements. The melodies will make you feel meanwhile the rhythm will keep you moving, Distant Matter allows for contrasting energies to come together into a truly unforgettable musical progression.

Do something Reckless this summer with Miami Horror

Summer is an exciting time of year. The intensity of life comes full force, encouraging us to feel first and think later. It’s intoxicating, irresistible, and energizing, so it’s no wonder that some of our strongest feelings of nostalgia are linked to this season. And just in time to feel the heat, Australian synth-pop group and summer festival staples Miami Horror have dropped a brand new single that is perfectly poised to capture everything that summer represents, entitled “Restless”

Funk guitars, warm synths, and syncopated drums open the track in familiar Miami Horror style, recalling their early days during the heyday of french electro and blog house, but soon we’re treated to guest vocalist Kevin Lavitt’s soft voice that instantly places the song within the realm of more contemporary artists working with 70s and 80s aesthetics. It’s a real testament to founding member Benjamin Plant’s ability to remain relevant to current trends without jettisoning the core of Miami Horror’s oeuvre. Lyrically, Lavitt ruminates on a feeling that we have all felt before: do they like me? Like, really like me? Of course it’s a bit cheesy, but say anything in the right voice and it goes from cheesy to romantic. And if indulging in your emotions isn’t a quintessential aspect of summer, then I don’t know what is.

Check out the full-on 70s inspired video for “Restless” above, and get yourself ready for some of that summer love.

Computer Data finds real human emotion with 'Healing'

Will computers ever feel things the way we do? Philosophers have been trying to answer this question since the dawn of computers themselves, but it doesn’t take a philosopher to know that Computer Data’s newest EP, Emotional Shift, will leave you feeling in ways you might not have expected on the dancefloor. The recipe of warmly saturated drums, gentle analog pads, and pitched vocals is certainly not new territory, but house music has always been about what you feel, not what you think. With the track ‘Healing,’ CD nails that feeling of sombre despair, of not know what to do but knowing you gotta do something. Might as well dance.

Hit play on ‘Healing’ above, and when you’re done reflecting go find the whole EP on bandcamp.

Peteza delivers fast and comforting soul-food in "Not That Normal"

CLIPP040 - Peteza - Not That Normal Break up the day with this couch surfing, free loading feel track. Pete Large aka Peteza, hails from Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne is known for having a thriving nightlife and long standing relationship with electronic music, especially House. But given the releases from Peteza or the material under his Pete Large moniker, you would be forgiven for mistaking this young Aussie native for one of an older generation Chicago producer. The reason for this is simple. He has layers and layers of that classic deep house sound in his productions. There are many nods to elements that made and make the classic Chicago sound so distinctive. Elements of jazz, acid and of course floating basslines and lush chord structures.

This is a genre that is hard to stand out in because so many producers emulate this style. It’s timeless and it still sounds as fresh and as relevant today as it ever did. While the genre might dip in and out of favour with top global spinners, producers and listeners are always drawn back to it, not only because of it’s roots, but also just how human the classic style is.

In “Not That Normal” Peteza does manage to take all the elements of Classic Deep House and put his own updated take on the Deep/Lounge House sound. While you would expect a routine 4/4 drum pattern to accompany the familiar deep chords, we are treated to a more break oriented drum sequence and elements of acid cut through the lush pads to give us an impression of Peteza’s playful personality. The elements always compliment each other rather than over power, which is always a sign that the producer knows the fundamental approach to a great deep track is harmony. Peteza does this while doing something that is just as skillful, making great soulful music that really stands out.

A slice of 90s rave culture from Australia's Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision - Pay The Rent [CLIPP037] A kaleidoscope of nineties dance sounds from a time that he is simply too young to have seen… Tunnel Vision created a dreamy, deceptively dark representation of what it might of been to dance in the ‘golden era’ of rave culture. Growing up in Sydney’s Hardcore Punk scene, Australian producer ‘Tunnel Vision’ has always had a certain affinity for gritty distortion, driving rhythms and all around counterculture. But it wasn’t until he discovered electronic music and producing beats that he was able to fully distill his own unique version of melancholic melodies and lofi soundscapes.

"Pay The Rent" flirts within dark and ominous atmospheres as an entry point into the young producer's emotive world of house. Interested in creating audio collages of nineties rave culture with a modern house sound, ‘Pay The Rent’ pays homage to artists like Legowelt and Luca Lozano, with pounding breakbeats & moody chords, evolving into an upbeat acid vibe.

Hazy Lofi house from New York's - Monolithic

Monolithic - Time [CLIPP030] Resident Advisor review - https://www.residentadvisor.net/reviews/22965 30th release. I guess it's funny how time flies. Speaking of "Time", Albert Einstein said “Time is an illusion”, while Andy Warhol once wrote “They say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself”. But of all musing about Time, I like the author Marthe Troly-Curtin’s quote best that “Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time”. When it’s 6am and you’re stood in a forest somewhere unknown - the sun coming up, and you’re surrounded by friends, while electronic rhythms vibrate through you, shirtless, twisting your body as though participating in some sort of ancient tribal neon ritual. Yeah, you get it. The track “Time” by New York based artist Monolithic, is an expansive inducer of vibe. A luscious slice of clangin’ housewerk that captures the listener in its mix of swirling pads, IDM riddims and warm jets of bass. Somewhere in the fog, a female siren emerges, calling out “All I Need Is Time. All I Need Is Time. Make This Feel Right” - drawing you in, closer and deeper. And much like that magical 6am rave hour, you lose yourself in the moment. Time enjoyed, indeed! “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin” - Mother Teresa. Jun Torii, aka Monolithic, creates dreamy, lofi house sprinkled with touches of nostalgia and urban imagery. Born in Japan, raised in Germany, US and the UK, and now based in New York, Jun has certainly seen his fair share of international cityscapes and neon-lit skylines.

Since graduating from the Institute of Audio Research in New York with a certificate in audio recording and production, Jun has gone on to work as an audio engineer and dialog editor for television, film and video games. Always keeping side projects and electronic music on the go, Jun has also managed to carve out a unique niche for himself in the lofi house music community.

Jun describes the Monolith sound as "booming 909 kicks, compressed claps, saturated bass plucks, and dreamy synthwork." A distinct throwback to the sounds of yesterday with a keen ear to the clean, cutting modern production methods of today. Monolith 'Time' serves as a friendly reminder that lofi house can be hazy, nostalgic, crisp and well mixed all at the same time. Serving as the 30th release from Melbourne-based label clipp.art, 'Time' finds a comfortable home within the labels eclectic, feel good discography.
