Skinny Wizard takes control of Melbourne dance floors with ‘Heat Wave’

Creating groove focused electronic, Skinny Wizard releases his debut EP and brings live PA to the Melbourne scene

Skinny Wizard is based out in Melbourne, and has been gradually claiming his own place in the city’s live electronic scene this past year, bring with him new energy and a new perspective. It’s only recently that he’s begun to establish himself more publicly however, with an independently released debut EP appearing on July 3rd, followed by a live set uploaded to his newly created YouTube channel.

The music which Skinny Wizard has put out so far makes a strong impression, with flavours of acid house and lo fi, all given a groove focused treatment to produce deep rhythms able to take control of dance floors.

In his element during his live set release, Skinny Wizard’s first EP arrives able to carry over the sense of soulful boogie that defines the character of his spontaneous music. Heat Wave / Mutual Commute are contained within a well-polished two track EP of the same name, with Heat Wave leading the pairing. Mutual Commute presents a slow burn side to Skinny Wizard, with a deeper dancefloor vibe, but that synth groove disposition is essential to Heat Wave’s electric funk feel, with nu-disco melodies and percussive claps inviting the mind to relax and the body to dance.
