Beatsolow’s second compilation album is a melting pot of electronic music launched into the NFT universe

The label compiles an eclectic sound for purchase on mintbase.io

Vancouver based independent label beatsolow has released their second compilation album, VA 02. Featuring various artists, the album is a celebration of the exploration of deep house and the exploration of new musical territory beyond that space. Founded on a love of the sensory and emotional power of music, beatsolow embraces the universal language of the art form through its exploratory compilation while working at the forefront of technological assets within the NFT and blockchain universe.

Previously, in 2018 beatsolow released their first compilation album TIMBRE featuring tracks by MI DI, Kostiya, Shehaq, and Folks Like Us. Bringing together the music of three artists and roommates, the album provided a glimpse into the artistic mind of each musician involved.

Now, this second compilation VA 02 explores the blockchain initiative as it is available as an NFT for download on mintbase.io. Featuring seven artists, many of whom had tracks on the first album, VA 02 shows the unique style of musicians including Kostiya, Perspectiv, Savaggio, Mount Mike, and Shreshth. The first track ‘Communicate’ by Kostiya shows the artists signature curious sound blending sub genres across the electronic dance space. Collaborating with Perspectiv in the track ‘El Nido,’ the artists weave their cultural backgrounds to create a diverse musical experience. Savaggio and Mount Mike’s ‘Natural Light’ incorporates elements of experimental deep string that is signature of the work of Savaggio who’s career started off playing violin. Hanisii emerges and gives away little

The secretive artist announces an extended release which makes public his quiet experimentations

Hanisii is an artist of substantial talent but a clear aversion to shifting focus from their sound to their public identity. For at least six years the Hanisii has been producing underground electronic music which touches on the genres of experimental and ambient among a wide spread of other influences. All these styles are in Hanisii’s repertoire when he comes to production, work which tends to produce tracks centred on lo fi and organic house.

As an ongoing project Hanisii has been somewhat sporadic with releases, and the artist had recently faded off the radar. Last month saw a premiere of a brand new album however, and details on the collection appeared in the following weeks, partly provided by the upcoming label ‘Time In The Special Practice Of Relativity’.

Titled ‘Klondike’ the album remains consistent which Hanisii’s minimalist style, with each of the eleven tracks given a numerical value rather than a stylised name. The full release flows on a glacier slow time scale, with most tracks reaching at least five minutes. That gives Hanisii a huge opportunity for creative movements and left field ideas, something that they take full advantage of. Our featured track leans towards a house vibe, but that’s one area travelled through on a longer journey.

The distinct downtempo house of Ninze, in ‘Lose Time’

Ninze tinkers with his preferred style of slow rolling deep house, returning to Tal der Verwirrung for an introspective EP

img-6709-1613552819348.jpg

Throughout the evolution of his discography his Ninze has rarely been static. Over the past five years the German producer has ventured deep into the corners of leftfield experimental, deep house and ambient. In his past collaborative work he has gone so far as to help to coin the term ketapop, a style characterised by techno beats, unusual sample patterns and a radically slow tempo. Ninze has been playing with the idea for a while, and similar styles like snail techno have been emerging in the same bracket.

In his solo work Ninze takes things at a deliberate pace, making use of delicate percussion and melodies which gradually hit the track like scattered raindrops. It’s an artistic process that makes room from extended patterns, which unfold along the length of each release. Moods of melancholy drift among tones which are simply meditative, occasionally even becoming uplifting as touches of gentle groove fall into the mix.

The most recent track dropped by Ninze is ‘Lose Time’, a house infusion which gradually unravels over the course of ten minutes. Lose Time is one of the four tracks which make up ‘Lost in Light’, an EP now out on Tal der Verwirrung records.

0110 alights, with debut single ‘Undone’

The Canadian duo begin their discography with a graceful, melancholic track

3-dsc09346-1611540734897.jpeg

‘Undone’ is a contemplative track, gradual and heavy. The overarching themes are those of ambient and drone, with steady beats of piano asserting themselves then dissipating into darkness. The recently released single marks the first few steps taken by the project ‘0110’, set in motion by a chance meeting way back in 2014.

Created with the intention to venture into fields of experimental sound, 0110 stands free from any preconceptions and limitations, working under a label of the same name. The artists behind the project are Iain Howie and Factor Eight, who first found a connection in Vancouver. Howie has previous experience to draw on from his time composing house and DJ music, whereas Factor Eight has claimed a space for himself in media industry, scoring cinema.

Exactly what sound will emerge from this partnership remains to be seen, although the duo possesses sufficient vision and talent to bring forward something original. Another element that falls into the mix is 0110’s appreciation for lyrics, selecting vocals that complement the lower classical tones in ‘Undone’. The human facet sparks within the debut single, igniting emotion and character. It’s an aspect of the track that balances between cinematic grace and mesmerising dance beats.

Islandman present groove rich rhythms, with ‘Aku Membawa’

For the second single off the forthcoming album, islandman team up with Danish producers Kenneth Bager and DJ Divo & OliO. 'Aku Membawa' is a shapeshifting h...

Fresh from a Boiler Room live set and performance for the London Jazz Festival, Islandman provide a glimpse of a new album

Islandman began as a solo project of Istanbul based producer Tolga Böyük over ten years ago, and has since grown to become a trio of multi-instrumentalists. Together with Eralp Güven and Erdem Başer, Böyük brings life to tracks rich with ethno-futuristic flavour.

The group’s discography is populated by tightly focused beats of percussion and wandering guitar melodies, creating a dreamlike landscape with a healthy spoonful of groove. At times the steady rhythms draw Islandman towards the genres of techno and house, but there’s no sense of attachment to this field. The inclusion of field recordings and experimental samples which emerge and fade away cultivate a sound which shifts beneath your feet.

A few years ago Islandman joined Music for Dreams, and is now focused on releasing their third album with the Denmark label. Promising to dig deeper into the trio’s dance floor moods the collection should arrive next year, as Islandman return to live performances.

Our featured single ‘Aku Membawa’ is taken from the upcoming album and welcomes DJ Divo & OliO to the studio, as well as Music for Dreams label boss Kenneth Bager. Reverb affected vocals present a balance between the organic and illusionary, but the dance floor vibe leads the track.

Woozy techno from Frankey and Sandrino: ‘Boson’

Embracing curious synth and tangible bass, the duo return with a multidimensional EP

Frankey and Sandrino have been working together for over a decade now, steadily building up a discography that sits within the experimental regions of house and techno music. The work produced by the two Germans has been evolving ever since they first hit the scene, establishing new milestones with each new release.

Their sound is often centred on resolute house beats and dark bass, but the hypnotic repetition of low tones finds an alternative force in Frankey and Sandrino’s carefully orchestrated experimentation. Sharper edged electronica and percussive snaps find their way into the mix, delivering a physical energy which elevates tracks as they gradually climb to new heights and reach for fresh directions.

Although Frankey and Sandrino are each based in a major German city, their newest EP arrives supported by Tokyo label Mule Musiq. While the geographical distance between the two parties is significant, Frankey and Sandrino have found strong artistic links in the label’s ethos and interests, entering into an international community of likeminded artists.

The two track EP is titled ‘Boson’, and kicks off with a title track of the same name which sparks with heavily manipulated electronic samples and melodic synth; assured in its rhythm, and multi-layered in its irregularities.

Intercontinental duo tourdefrance present new soulful sound

With an eye on dance rhythm and strong vocals, Fantom and Tworow get back to work

Tourdefrance is the shared project of Luke Fantom and Carson Tworow, a duo who originally made a connection back in 2018, when both producers were in Vancouver. The pair have been developing their artistic relationship ever since, keeping the energy behind their collaborative work flowing. Their success comes despite a significant physical distance between the two, with Fantom and Tworow now communicating between Canada and the UK.

The music styles in which they share an interest tend to lean towards dance based rhythms, inspiration which directs their process to the creation of electronica fed music with dancefloor soul. Within the discography of tourdefrance can be heard the influence of jazz, disco, afro-beat and indie, dealt with through the filter of old-school house.

The duo has recently dropped a new four track EP, titled ‘tourdefrance 2’. It’s a tightly produced collection which embraces manipulated percussive beats, deep bass rhythm carrying the natural beauty of synth and vocal sampling.

The new EP is opened by an edit of Fatoumata Diawara's single ‘Nterini’. A recent collaborator with the Gorillaz, Diawara’s gorgeous vocals find their way into a new electronic environment through the work of tourdefrance, and the result feels good in the soul and moves the body.

Multitalented collaborators Taran & Lomov deliver new beats

Provided to YouTube by Ingrooves Strap · Taran & Lomov Pravo ℗ 2020 Ovum Recordings Inc. Released on: 2020-08-21 Composer, Writer: Eduards Samsonovs Composer...

Between handling a multitude of projects, the veteran duo drop an EP with uninhibited vision

Creative electronic music is often a challenge to pin down and place inside genre boundaries, but in the case of Latvia based artists Bogdan Taran and Max Lomov it becomes difficult just to give a clear outline of the multiple and varied roles the artists themselves have taken on during their long careers in the music industry.

One of the best areas to start when looking into the 15 year long journey the two have taken into electronica is their interactions with the community. Since 2010 Taran & Lomov have been at the head of Amber Muse Records, a label which extends its activities to event organising, production of a music magazine, and the excellent show Amber Muse Radio which brings high quality electronic sounds to an international audience.

The energy that Taran & Lomov carry is just as intense when they turn to the production of their own discography; recently released on Ovum Recordings their EP ‘Pravo’ taps into both veteran experience and fresh inspiration, with a core of deep house and techno beats.

The final inclusion on this three track collection is ‘Strap’, a song led by basslines thick with funk, and brought to life in a glimmering world of old school house.

Robert Robert taking us through space and time with his latest release 'Hoodie bleu ultra'

Robert Robert new single from upcoming EP "Hoodie Bleu Ultra" Stream / DL : http://smarturl.it/robertrobert-hbu Credits : Réalisation: Laurent E. Malo et Rob...

Robert Robert is a French-Canadian artist of many talents hailing from Montreal. Wearing a multitude of different creative hats, from composer and producer to singer and performer, this diverse approach to moulding and shaping sound has brought forth the release of his latest album ‘Hoodie bleu ultra’ on Nowaday Records.

Anytime I hear “French” and “House” in the same sentence I get a tinge of excitement running though my veins. If you look back to the calibre of artists that have released French House influenced music such as Daft Punk, Justice, Cassius, Bob Sinclar, Dimitri from Paris, St. Germain.. (need I go on?) they all have a few key qualities in common: a high standard in polished sound design, warm feel-good vibes, and sophisticated, yet highly imaginative arrangement and production. The simple truth is ‘International National’ is a track with that same kind of essence; French house infused electronica at it’s finest.

Serving as the single from the album, ‘International National’ wastes no time in pushing the launch button, mapping its course and sending us into orbit.  The play between the warm arpeggiated keys, glaciated vocoded vocal and lead melody set up feelings of the familiar while also looking towards the future. The accompanying music video adds to this sense of interdimensional head space and is actually illustrated by Robert Robert himself. I highly recommend you purchase your ticket, sit back, strap in and wait for departure.
