Ricardo Ricci and Miluhska come together to produce a commanding house music collaboration

The duo’s four-track release merges the vocal and production expertise of the two artists

‘Flight 401’ is the latest release from Italy-based producer, Riccardo Ricci in collaboration with up-and-coming Miami vocalist Miluhska. Ricci has had a love for electronic music since the age of 16 when he first discovered the genre, after playing piano for several years as a child. As a multi-instrumental artist, Ricci is influenced by artists including Toman, Chris Stussy, Anotr, Rossi, Djoko, and Weird. After moving to Turin in 2012—a city with a rising underground scene at the time—Ricci played in historical clubs across the city. This release marks his first collaboration with Miluhska, a DJ, vocalist, and composer who has performed at venues across Miami. She is the founder of Zpecial Invite and is a member of the collaborative trio, Roujeee Tunes.

Ricardo Ricci had several EP releases this year already, including ‘Deepsoul,’ featuring a collaboration with Tommaso Pizzelli, ‘Space Hunter,’ featuring a collaboration with Mirko Bonfitto, ‘MoskoSky,’ ‘Reality,’ featuring collaborations with MAX LANE, and ‘Like That,’ featuring collaborations with Alex Dam and Zambiancki. Previously, he released EPs and singles including ‘Burning,’ ‘Midnight Dancefloor,’ ‘THC,’ and ‘Flower.’ Earlier this year, Miluhska released single ‘Biscayne Lady’ in collaboration with Odd Ones Out and coupe Melba.

Ricci and Miluhska’s EP includes four tracks, merging their capacities for dream-like vocals, heavy baselines, and ethereal synths. As a producer who explores his feelings and previous experiences through his music, Ricci’s sound references aspects of tech house, minimal, and deep genres. This, combined with Miluhska’s incorporation of house, R&B, hip-hop, and reggeaton, make for a dynamic and powerful EP. The first two tracks, ‘Flight 401’ and then a Thurman Remix of the track, feature the elegant, airy, and celestial voice of Miluhska overlaid onto a bouncy base rhythm. The final two tracks, ‘Tango 207’ and its remix, are solo tracks from Ricci and feature a heavier bass, a climactic build, and a more futuristic sound.

Elevated and ethereal house, J Kara’s ‘Sunday Afternoon’

J Kara is the alias of producer, DJ and founder of Subnote Records, Juliano Karahassan. From the island of Jersey, J Kara is sending out house inspired tracks which thrive on his desire for individual expression. There are clear influences in the path being taken here, with names like Ross From Friends and DJ Boring emerging, but the direction is decidedly under the control of J Kara.

Karahassan took his first major step into the electronic community while studying in London, with the creation of Subnote Records; still home to a varied community of artists and projects. Producing and DJ performances began to escalate following a year abroad in Thailand, but 2019 and the release of ‘For Nina’ and ‘Leon’ mark the point at which J Kara more seriously established himself as a producer.

Mainly experimenting within the genre of house, the unique flavours finding their way into the sound resonate with vibes of lo-fi and downtempo. There’s also a touch of something alien present in the unearthly melodies and synth samples which prevent the tracks being tied to an organic atmosphere.

‘Sunday Afternoon’ is part of the recent EP ‘Subterranean’, in the company of two other tracks which explore J Kara’s version of house.

George McCarthy’s solid debut sets ears tingling and hearts a flutter

Provided to YouTube by Symphonic Distribution Flutter (Original Mix) · George McCarthy · George McCarthy Flutter ℗ 2019 Floor 13 Released on: 2019-11-29 Auto-generated by YouTube.

Upon doing my research for the elusive George McCarthy I have to say I didn’t come up with much except for the fact that he is a new UK based producer who is fresh out of the gate with a release that is capturing the attention of the biggest taste makers in underground music worldwide right now.

So let’s get straight to it, Flutter is simply a very effective and enjoyable slice of stripped back electro of which I haven’t heard in sometime. A warm, playful and reserved minimalist production that with few ingredients manages to deliver the utmost in personality and danceability. Although McCarthy’s fresh, crisp approach to drum programming is something I am accustomed to, there is something in his treated and gated arrangement of melody which is uniquely him. It’s in the play between the groove and his production techniques where McCarthy finds his voice. While McCarthy has released a track that would work in any club you can see the potential for his sound to become a lot bigger. With interest from some of the biggest labels out there right now we might see this happen sooner rather than later.

Refreshed tones with Heartwerk’s ‘Man Made Mistakes’

FULL RELEASE INFO: http://future-everything.com/releases/ftrvrythng-vol-4 Our fourth annual compilation, FTRVRYTHNG Vol. 4. features 26 tracks from artists all over the world of all genres. There's some familiar names on this one, along with some brand new artists to the label such as Night Park, HeartWerk, Uncle Gnarly, Mark O'Brien, Nico, Erlee, Midist, 1981.US and Young Muscle.

Producing from within the electronic music scene of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hertwerk has been working with the Audiophile Deep label to create old school charged tracks which claim a place in the modern EDM world. We heard from him back in October, when the artist was presenting ‘Fresh’; an EP built around dark shades of Acid House which took a bite out of synth.

Taking no breaks, Heartwerk is staying awake through the winter. This December he provided Juicy Traxxx with ‘Optical’, a grim new techno track for their 2nd annual VA which features 13 other producers.

Heartwerk’s most recent release is also part of a larger project, with an inclusion on the 4th instalment of Future Everything‘s yearly compilation. A total of 26 artists have come together to collaborate with the label, which looks through progressive music worldwide.

In the company of contributions from artists such as Night Park and Mark O’Brien, Heartwerk’s song ‘Man Made Mistakes’ stands out both slow-burn and intriguing. There’s a lighter vibe here than in previous work, and more energy in the bass line. Of the numerous samples carefully planted within Man Made Mistakes, it’s the Saxophone from featured artist Uncle Gnarly that nails down this more laid back, downtempo song.

Late Night Nostalgia with NVY's 'Knife Play'

art by Rico Chrystofel

Remember the golden days of rave? Before the internet, before stream counts and follower numbers defined an artist? When literally the only way to hear a new track was to find that event where one of those select DJs were playing one of the few promo copies in existence?
When going to a party brought with it an air of mystery, allure and even danger?

Well the times have changed and those days have come and gone, but fortunately for us the sound hasn’t. That same surreal and enigmatic quality can be heard in NVY’s recent release entitled ‘Knife Play.’

Born in Vancouver, NVY played guitar and wrote songs in bands throughout high school and found a love for music production after being introduced to Ableton by a friend. Since starting production at 14, his sound has undergone many changes and evolutions ranging from dance music to hip hop to pop. Taking inspiration from the likes of New Order and Metronomy, NVY’s sound features a depth well beyond his years yet remains lush, organic and sonically accessible.

’Knife Play’ draws the listener into a mysterious world of lost loves and late night, dimly lit underground clubs. With a sound that feels full yet totally natural and uncluttered, ‘Knife Play’ steams forward with a floating sense of nostalgia amidst minimal percussion and a raw, euphoric bassline.

NVY describes his headspace when writing the track:
”I was feeling techy and minimal one morning so I decided to try and write, finish and release a track in a few hours. It was a fun experimentation session that resulted in a nice blend between ambience and rhythm. Also I wanted to release something spontaneously since I've been working on my album for the past year and felt a little bored with all the waiting involved with scheduling releases so some experimentation and jamming was long over due.”

Computer Data finds real human emotion with 'Healing'

Will computers ever feel things the way we do? Philosophers have been trying to answer this question since the dawn of computers themselves, but it doesn’t take a philosopher to know that Computer Data’s newest EP, Emotional Shift, will leave you feeling in ways you might not have expected on the dancefloor. The recipe of warmly saturated drums, gentle analog pads, and pitched vocals is certainly not new territory, but house music has always been about what you feel, not what you think. With the track ‘Healing,’ CD nails that feeling of sombre despair, of not know what to do but knowing you gotta do something. Might as well dance.

Hit play on ‘Healing’ above, and when you’re done reflecting go find the whole EP on bandcamp.

A lofi house gem from Montreal's Moox

free download available! :)

It could be the chill of December, or those hearty dishes of smoked meat poutine, but Montreal lofi house producer ‘Moox’ has that special sound to keep you warm all winter long.

His regular uploads of laid back, head nodding house jams throughout 2018 have caught the attention of vibey youtube channel “Moskalus’ and San Francisco label ‘Routine Espresso Recordings'. Continually honing his hazy sound, this past year has seen a number of edits, free downloads, releases and collaborations hit the airwaves from the young Canadian producer.

His recent track ‘My House’ features a warm and welcoming bassline accented by some classic hi hats and percussion up top. Piano infused pads rise and fall to bring movement to the piece, while some cleverly placed vocal samples give a nice final touch.

Grab this little heater on a free download and stay toasty through the winter months.

Growing up in Sydney’s Hardcore Punk scene, Australian producer ‘Tunnel Vision’ has always had a certain affinity for gritty distortion, driving rhythms and all around counterculture. But it wasn’t until he discovered electronic music and producing beats that he was able to fully distill his own unique version of melancholic melodies and lofi soundscapes.

"Pay The Rent" flirts within dark and ominous atmospheres as an entry point into the young producer's emotive world of house. Interested in creating audio collages of nineties rave culture with a modern house sound, ‘Pay The Rent’ pays homage to artists like Legowelt and Luca Lozano, with pounding breakbeats & moody chords, evolving into an upbeat acid vibe.

If you like your beats hazy, vibey and irresistibly musical, then Australian producer ‘Darks’ is definitely someone who should be on your radar. Hailing from the sunny eastern shores of Australia’s ‘Gold Coast’, Darks’ music is combination of laid back synth-driven soundscapes and nostalgia-tinged aesthetics.

Utilizing a variety of both digital and analog tools in the studio, the young producer creates head bobbing dancefloor tunes that are versatile enough to also flick on for those chill evenings at home.

Case in point, the breezy dancefloor heater that is ‘Fade in and Out’ released earlier this month on Melbourne imprint Clipp Art. It’s 5 minutes of tape washed ‘Gold Coast’ vibes, surfing the pixelated waves on that cruisey 303 bassline with soft pads slowly rolling beachward.
