If you like your beats hazy, vibey and irresistibly musical, then Australian producer ‘Darks’ is definitely someone who should be on your radar. Hailing from the sunny eastern shores of Australia’s ‘Gold Coast’, Darks’ music is combination of laid back synth-driven soundscapes and nostalgia-tinged aesthetics.
Utilizing a variety of both digital and analog tools in the studio, the young producer creates head bobbing dancefloor tunes that are versatile enough to also flick on for those chill evenings at home.
Case in point, the breezy dancefloor heater that is ‘Fade in and Out’ released earlier this month on Melbourne imprint Clipp Art. It’s 5 minutes of tape washed ‘Gold Coast’ vibes, surfing the pixelated waves on that cruisey 303 bassline with soft pads slowly rolling beachward.

An Acid House Rollercoaster from Japan's CD Hata and Koyas
Japanese producer Koyas and his Tokyo-based label 'Psymatics' continue their eclectic collaboration series with a fresh creative amalgamation for the third instalment. This time welcoming experienced producer and multi-instrumentalist: CD Hata.
Hata serves as the synth player, producer, and remix director for the well-known Japanese psychedelic jam band 'Dachambo.' Formed in 2001, the band's free form live jams, deep tribal rhythms and energetic stage presence has made them a festival favourite in Japan. In addition to his participation in the band, CD Hata also works on his solo production and DJ projects, which has brought him to festivals and club events around the world.
Koyas is a producer, DJ, and label owner based in Tokyo. He manages the label 'Psymatics' which releases a variety of electronic music with an emphasis on spontaneous live creation. Koyas is also one of the first Ableton certified trainers in Japan and runs Ableton Meetup Tokyo; a regular producers' meetup that features guest speakers and workshops. In addition to his active duties as a trainer and organizer, Koyas has released on quality Japanese imprints such as Jet Set, Third ear, Grand Gallery and more.

Lush Lofi from Misc. Inc and Leavv
Based in Dresden, Germany Misc. Inc creates dreamy, chilled out soundscapes perfect for studying, reflecting or relaxing. Starting out making beats in 2012, the young producer took cues from some of his favourite lofi artists such as bsd.u, Tycho, and Jinsang. Now, 6 years later, Misc displays a complexity and confidence in his music well beyond his years.
The Misc. Inc sound combines organic, soulful elements with crisp sound design and groove-infused, infectious beats. Never one to settle within a comfortable niche, Marc is always striving to improve his sound and broaden his horizons. This pursuit often leads him to new, exciting collaborations resulting in music that is more than the sum of its parts.
His Oblivion EP is a great example of this collaborative approach. Joined by fellow countryman, Leavv, the 2-track release features dusty chords, soothing rhythms and organic atmospheres.
