Astrazione Astrale drops with high dance energy

Two new tracks by Felche create a techno and electro inspired atmosphere

A partnership of two long-term friends, Felche is an Italian duo that began making music together two years ago. Merging their backgrounds in techno, electro, experimental electronics, and contemporary music composition, the pair has explored the boundaries of dub, glitch, drone, and techno through their 100% hardware-based sessions. As a result, they have produced two releases in the last two years that demonstrate their in-studio approach.

The newest release, “Astrazione Astrale” follows on from their first single in 2020, “Faune.” Playlisted by house DJ Sasha, “Faune” is comprised of three tracks: “Nel Labirinto,” “Striature dell’Inconscio,” and “Quinto Cancello.” The first produces an ephemeral house sound, with the second following up to add a layer of chaos and intensity, only to close with a drum pad-focused track that seals the release off at a more minimal note.

“Faune” set the tone for their playful and dance-oriented techno sound that embedded itself into “Astrazione Astrale,” released this July. Two tracks—the album’s namesake and “Isolesole”—create a thirteen-minute rhythmic experience comprised of a combination of techno themes, house feelings, and dynamic energy fit to set the atmosphere on the dancefloor. Felche uses pads and 808 drums, blended with reverbs and tape delays to create a pulse that trickles throughout the beat at a steady energy across both songs.

George McCarthy’s solid debut sets ears tingling and hearts a flutter

Provided to YouTube by Symphonic Distribution Flutter (Original Mix) · George McCarthy · George McCarthy Flutter ℗ 2019 Floor 13 Released on: 2019-11-29 Auto-generated by YouTube.

Upon doing my research for the elusive George McCarthy I have to say I didn’t come up with much except for the fact that he is a new UK based producer who is fresh out of the gate with a release that is capturing the attention of the biggest taste makers in underground music worldwide right now.

So let’s get straight to it, Flutter is simply a very effective and enjoyable slice of stripped back electro of which I haven’t heard in sometime. A warm, playful and reserved minimalist production that with few ingredients manages to deliver the utmost in personality and danceability. Although McCarthy’s fresh, crisp approach to drum programming is something I am accustomed to, there is something in his treated and gated arrangement of melody which is uniquely him. It’s in the play between the groove and his production techniques where McCarthy finds his voice. While McCarthy has released a track that would work in any club you can see the potential for his sound to become a lot bigger. With interest from some of the biggest labels out there right now we might see this happen sooner rather than later.

octo17 experiments with hybrid forms on 'playtest'

Russian producer octo17 returns to the ADSR blog with a new track titled ‘playtest’, a hybrid form that takes elements from electro, deep house, and hip hop. The rhythm is unmistakably electro, with thick kicks and a boom-bap beat; but the pads and melodic elements are certainly more common in the deeper end of house music. And to round it out, the rap vocal samples give it an extra bit of swagger that will have you bobbing your head to the beat in no time.

Everything comes together to invoke, perhaps, early Drexciya, with their organic-yet-foreign, sunk-in-the-ocean pioneering form of electro. And yet, octo17 still flexes his modern production chops, creating a balanced frequency range that thumps in the lows and tickles in the highs. Combined with some unique atmospherics and well-tuned delays, the track rolls along nicely and would be hard pressed to keep anyone still on the dancefloor.
