The combination of talents behind latin-jazz track ‘Mi Ritmo’ is a fantastic crossing over of genre and flavours, mixing together to make a final product which is both rich and sweet. London's Atjazz Record Company are the label who helped finalise the release of the organic house single, but the two groups which made it happen are MALO MALO and Oyobi.

Oyobi is comprised of Vincent Sebastian on percussion, Adm Ventoura on bass, Planeface who deals with synth elements, and a range of guests who drop in and out. The sound they make is gorgeously rhythmic, blending in dance beats, flowing melody and layered bass. Oyobi balances on the boundaries of organic and synthetic, feeding in dashes of electronic nu-disco.

Their collaborator in this release is MALO MALO, a vibrant orchestra led by Danny G Felix which embraces latin music with a passion. Their debut album only came out in 2019 but their style is so polished and smooth that you’d be forgiven for thinking MALO MALO has been performing far longer.

‘Mi Ritmo’ is a track born from two different projects excelling in quite different areas. Synthesiser sweeps mingle with organic percussion from the outset, and the union takes off.

Electronic habitat from Argentina, Barda: Paseo Telúrico

Barda brings forth a sound forged in the new waves of music spreading from South America. The music that Argentinian Cecilia Gebhard breathes life into has been affected by traditional percussion, dub bass, nu-folk and a Latin soul on its journey to the present day, with other influences obviously present.

The debut LP ‘Gruta’ dropped back in 2015 through the Fertil Discos music platform, and the trip from there has taken this artist between different labels and ideas. It’s an artistic history absolutely worth digging into if you can pick up the trail, with standout folklore led tracks from the three track ‘Botanas: Barda’, funk so natural it feels plucked from the earth in the Lembrança album and percussion which cleans the soul throughout her discography.

Back to the present, and Barda has been welcomed into Onda Mundial, an online platform fostering the growing community of Latin electronic artists and strengthening ties between creators. Through Onda Mundial, Barda has released ‘Paseo Telúrico’ a four track collection made public at the end of February and carrying a vibe of Cumbia dance music and organic groove.

Eponymous lead track Paseo Telúrico lays out a relationship between nature and machine, given character with a mix of cultural themes.
