Promising premiere sounds from Byjayr

Carried by techno beats and a desire to create, the Canada based artist is forging a path

Byjayr is on the rise. As a visual artist she creates animation and murals, through which she expresses energy and a vibrant personality, elements which are drawn into her music with the same bold strokes. Jeena Ra is the name behind the alias, a Canadian born to Palestinian parents who began to make moves into the electronic scene in 2016 as a DJ.

This year Byjayr has oriented herself towards producing music beyond her live shows, connecting up with Aquarius Records, a label created back in 1969 which have helped support a variety of major names from Canada, including Corey Hart and Sum 41.

Innovation and upcoming talent are aspects which have attracted Aquarius Records in the past, and there’s much to expect from Byjayr in the future, in particular her upcoming debut EP ‘Siren’. However, for the time being the focus is on her track ‘Muhit’, a precursor to the full release of Siren.

In Muhit she ties together organic flute with subtle synth, introducing percussion edged bass that forms a core beat structure around which the flute relaxes into melody. There’s a feint towards a softer ambient tone, but the true character remains brooding and dark rooted in techno.
