Polish composer Michał Jacaszek has been creating music which delves into the hushed environments of ambient, drone and classical. At times experimenting with field recordings and spoken word, much of his work is delivered with a tangible sense of solace and silence.

The invitation to envision new worlds is part of the foundation of the ambient genre, and Jacaszek’s progression into developing scores for film and TV seems to have been a decidedly natural process, his earlier work already connecting with the imagination of listeners. With his talent as a solo producer already evidenced by a significant amount of studio albums, Jacaszek has simultaneously been creating tracks for TV, short and feature films, as well as documentaries.

Marking the point between his solo and cinematic career, ten of the recordings from his career as a composer are set to be released on March 27th in an album titled ‘Music for Film’. Supported by left-field record company Ghostly International, the collection includes a variety of offerings curated throughout Jacaszek’s time as a producer. Interestingly, effort has been made to sequence each track in order to present the work as a seamless production.

In the pre-release track ‘The Zone’, a melancholy seeps between the dark bass, dragging down on the delicate string and violin inclusions.
