Welcome to the "The Grand Tour"

Montreal composer and producer Camille Frey began her music exploration as a classically trained pianist. She has also worked with a live electronic improv collective known as ‘Silicon Beats’, and though she stays rooted in classical, Camille's style has taken full form in electronic music.

Her debut ambient album will be out on UNLOG music on April 9th, 2021. The unique imprint detached from a single genre curates exciting audiovisual pieces from multimedia artists. The beauty of Camille's "The Grand Tour" EP lies in the lush narrative it encompasses from start to finish. The journey we conjure up takes us into an alternate universe, perhaps even into Camille's inner world.

The five-track album kicks off with "The Grand Tour" as a sudden burst of energy likened to the Big Bang, not for the charged intensity but rather for the splendour of a new beginning. The grand exploration continues with "Multidark" an ominous environment held together by sonic pulsations and staggered frequencies. At the core of this world, we find "Heartbeats" the first single of the debut release. It binds complex structures together and mystifies us with how nature or its constituents work. The soft glitches remind us of the fragility and transcience of living beings yet grounded in a synth-based harmony. "Hypnagogia" is the detour your consciousness takes to dive deeper within. During the involuntary descent into the subconscious, drum clusters guide the mind to wander free of constraints into foreign terrain to seek self-awareness. The final track of the voyage is more rhythmically driven than the rest of the album. "Birth" preserves the overall fleeting quality while evoking a lustre of optimism for a gentle landing from the tour.
