Synth soaked techno with R.Kitt's 'I Wish You Hadn't Said'

R.Kitt is a Dj, producer, promoter, and live performance act from Dublin Ireland. Over this past decade he’s been slowly carving a name for himself, regularly putting on parties and playing gigs in some of Dublin’s best venues for underground music such as Button Factory, District 8, and the Grand Social, amongst many others.

2019 saw R.Kitt break through, playing alongside industry heavyweights Prosumer and Paranoid London, in a lead up to their Boiler Room live set for Belfast’s AVA festival. An engaging performer, R.Kitt’s live setup consists of 2 analog synths complete with full size keys,  a TB 303 for classic acid squiggles and basslines, and a trusty TR-8 amongst a few other pieces of gear. The set progressed through a range of sounds, starting with jacking house, drifting into melodic techno, wiggly acid grooves, and into full on visceral, pounding techno over the course of 50 minutes. What remained consistent throughout was the use of his analog synths. Whether it be ambient chords, sporadic notes, or punchy square waves, R Kitt is busy on stage, keying chords and notes into his set, making for a mesmerizing set.

Having made waves with his AVA festival set, Berlin based label Night Tides was quick to get in touch for a release. As one of the 5 tracks on his Night Tides EP, I Wish you hadn’t said is a prime example of R. Kitt’s signature. A steady arpeggiated synth sits in contrast to drifting ambience and sporadic notes, and a punchy, electro-esque drum pattern carries the weight into a melodic build up of energy, that releases itself into a minor key groove.

R.Kitt is one to keep an eye out for in 2020. Check out his track I Wish you hadn’t said on his Night Tides release, as well as his AVA Festival boiler room set.
